World Cup 2011

Well, the opening ceremony for the World Cup in Dhaka is over and now let the games begin. I still have not recovered from the early exit by the Indian team in West Indies. That was an eventful cup with India and Pakistan exiting in first round. It left many of us die hard Indian and Pak fans heart broken and disappointed. Bob Woolmer died suddenly and both teams were heading home without any fireworks. Both teams had lot of talent on paper but could not translate it on the field. So fast forward to 2011, India is considered favorite by many cricket pundits and Pakistan is the dark horse capable of winning the cup for the second time. All fans are looking forward to a great competition and great sportsmanship. All teams have youngsters and good mixture of experience.  The teams to watch are Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and India. All teams have had a tough playing schedule in 2010-11. The fans will be delighted with some good batting and bowling from all teams. This will also be a commercial bonanza for sponsors and cricket boards. As long as the teams give their best effort to the last ball and wicket, it will be a pleasure to watch at the grounds or on the television. Off course we will have to listen to the commentators and their expert opinions on why a certain shot was played and ball was bowled. They have to earn their living by either praising or providing constructive criticism for each shot and ball.  It will be tough for the sub-continent teams since they have 1.5 billion coaches and advisers day to day.  So get ready, prepare some snacks, drinks or what ever you fancy to enjoy the World Cup 2011. So I wish the best to all the teams and hope for the best world cup ever.
